Title: Sapphire Blue By: Kerstin Gier

Sapphire Blue? Say what?! Yup, that's what I said. You know that book Ruby Red that you read forever ago (or maybe you never read it or you did and it wasn't that long ago) well the sequel: Sapphire Blue is coming out soon! Ya, well it's not as exciting as Princess Academy: Palace of Stone by Shannon Hale, but I'm pretty darn excited. I borrowed Ruby Red from the library and I absolutely loved it. I was so sad when I read that Sapphire Blue doesn't come out until October! But then I was at a family gathering and my sister (who is also a book reviewer) said to me: "Hey I have a book for you. It hasn't come out yet, what book do you think it is?" and I felt stupid because here I am in the book world and I can't think of any amazing book that is about to come out. So finally she said: "Sapphire Blue!" I was so darn excited I almost started crying. So she gave it to me and I started reading it instantly and I finished it in a day. So here it goes...
After Gweneth found out that she had the time traveler gene instead of her cousin Charlotte her life changed forever. She found a new love, secret, so secret she wasn't even sure if he even knew it was a relationship. Since she didn't have previous training, she felt like she was going into her missions blindly with little training and absolutely no idea what she was getting into, which was exactly what was happening. She is looking to find out what the power of the Raven is. Her power. Each of the time travelers have a gem and an object. The object the power. She doesn't realize that her power is to see ghosts.
I particularly enjoyed this book because I loved the first one so much. I feel like I could completely read these books again and not be bored with them. I love this style of writing. I love the romance, it shows that no guy is perfect, no love is perfect. That is the problem with these other books they make the guys seem perfect when in all reality guys are rarely mature or super strong and brave. This change was perfect for me.

Title: Soul Weaver By: Hailey Edwards with an Interview and a Giveaway!

Review:

Soul Weaver is a thrill of the supernatural Angelic world of Nephilim, Angels, and Demons. The exciting adventure of two lovers begins when the angel fallen from heaven named Nathaniel is on a job for the angel of hell. He finishes his job and is on the street when he witnesses a car crash. He hears a soul calling to him. He hesitates but decides to check out what is going on with the soul. As he approaches the crash scene he sees the girl of the calling soul. She has a piece of metal protruding from her body. He pulls it from her broken body. Then when he sees that none of the angels from heaven are coming to claim her soul we decides on an impulse to sever a piece of his soul and sew it together with her soul to tether it to her body. To give her a second chance, a chance to find friends, and family, people to love her.
He doesn’t easily forget this girl that he saved. And when he takes over a job to harvest some souls for his drunken brother he encounters the girl again. This time he is torn between doing the job that he is supposed to do and saving this beautiful girl again. He decides to give her a third chance. But this time he has to interfere and become part of her life.
I thought that this book was very intriguing. I have read books like this before but never in this style before. It was interesting to see how Hailey put this together. The plot was so amazing, It wasn't like anything that I've read before. The romance is what confused me the most. I don't think that the beginning of the "romance" could even be called romance. She falls into lust for him it isn't lust it's pure wanting to get into his pants. It wasn't the kind of romance that makes a good chick flick. You can't base a relationship off of something like that. Although in the end when she risked her life to save the world, it turned into a romance that I wished could have been like that for the whole book. The lust ruined the beautiful plot laid out by Hailey. I really wish that the morality hadn't gone that low.

Interview with Hailey Edwards:
All the characters in Soul Weaver were very interesting and they really shaped the plot of the book. Did you model any of the of the characters after anyone you know?

Usually I can answer this question no. For once, my answer is yes. I based several aspects of Chloe’s character on one of my favorite aunts, who suffers from an anxiety disorder.

I have noticed that there is a lot of references to creatures that I have read in other books like The Mortal Instruments Series, where did you learn about these creatures? And did that spark your interest to write this book?

I haven’t read The Mortal Instruments series, so I’m not sure which creatures we have in common. The cast of Soul Weaver is a grab bag of celestial beings. (Granted, I did twist their purposes.) Angels, archangels, seraphs, cherubs and demons, are all creatures I heard about first in Sunday school. So I guess you could say angels have fascinated me for a long time.

My favorite character was Neve because she was so strong and her personality is so big. Who was your favorite character to create?

Definitely Nathaniel. I loved his role as the Weaver of Souls, loved his relationships with his nephew and his brother. He’s an interesting guy. It was fun learning more about him and his family.

Which, if any, of the character's personalities are most similar to you?

Hmm. If I had to pick a character, I would go with Neve just because we’re both momma bears when it comes to protecting our kids.

If you had to choose another character to do a point of view who would you choose? And would that change the plot of the book in anyway?

It’s funny you should ask. I wrote this book a couple of years ago, and when it sold, my editor asked me to add in Saul’s point of view. While it didn’t drastically change the course of the book, it did increase my understanding and sympathy for him. By giving him his own voice, I learned that he’s not a lost cause. Or if he is now, he still has the potential to be redeemed. I wasn’t sure of that before.

What inspired you to write this book?

The idea for Nathaniel’s talent as the Weaver is what made me want to write this book. It was such a cool idea, I thought, that I wanted to see where his story would take me.

What has been the biggest challenge in getting this book out in
the open or published?

As I said above, I wrote this book a couple of years ago. It’s actually the second novel I wrote, but will be my seventh published work. Sometimes a book is not a good fit for a publisher, and that was the case with Soul Weaver. It didn’t fit with my current publisher, so I shelved the book for about two years. Then, back in January, a friend told me Grand Central Publishing had opened their Forever Yours imprint. I researched Forever Yours and was impressed with what I learned. I decided to sub—and here I am.

Have you ever thought that maybe a career in writing wasn’t worth it? What do you do when you get discouraged during the publishing process?

No, but I did recognize at one point that I had to work harder to make my way in this industry. I took classes, wrote, got critique partners I trusted, wrote, found beta readers, wrote, did anything I could to hone my craft, and above all, I wrote. There is no substitution for experience. After all, you have to practice applying what you learn.

When I get discouraged, I look back at how far I’ve come since I started writing back in 2009. I’m not the same writer I was then, not even the same writer I was several months ago, and that’s a good thing. It means I’m growing, and I never want to stop improving my craft.

Name one thing about yourself that people would be surprised to learn.

I have performed dance routines in over twenty Mardi Gras parades in New Orleans.

Title: Chasing Aces By: Ruth Weaver with a Feature and an Interview

Interview with Ruth Weaver:
-         Why did you choose the perspectives from Molly and Emma/Skye’s point of view?
-         Because I think they are both really interesting characters. You get two different perspectives
-         Which, if any, of the character’s personalities are most similar to you?
-         Anastasia. She is kinda chatty and likes be with her friends
-         If you had to chose another character to do a point of view, who would you choose? And would that change the plot of the book in any way?
-         Phoenix. Not really, because it would be the same story just with another point of view.
-         Each character in Chasing Aces is so different, yet so interesting- definitely the best part of the book. When creating the characters, did you base them on people you know in real life?
-         No. Maybe a couple things, like hair, eyes, or talents. But I made them their own individual people.
-         What inspired you to write this book?
-         Kinda got a couple ideas a couple years ago. I wrote them down as the ideas, then wrote it as a story. My mom said they were good, and said I should make it a book.
-         What is one thing you wish people knew about publishing or writing?
-         It’s more difficult than just writing a book. There is a lot of time spent on editing, and other stuff like that.
-         What has been the biggest challenge in getting this book out in the open or published?
-         Because it was so long. I had to make sure all the plot lines worked together, and it all tied together in the end.
-         Have you ever thought that maybe a career in writing wasn’t worth it? What do you do when you get discouraged during the publishing process?
-         I read some of my favorite books. I think if that author can do it, I can do it too.
-         Name one thing about yourself that people would be surprised to know.
-         I think for a long time it was the fact that I had written a book. It surprised my friends at school.
Review:
Phoenix's sunken face and eyes like chips of green ice haunt Molly Remington where ever she goes. She can not escape the memory of that face, and the memory of what she did to Phoenix.
She feels bad about what she did but she doesn't seem to regret it. When she gets expelled from the boarding school she and Phoenix attended she thought that she would escape the memory of Phoenix and nobody would know what she had done.
But then she meets the P.E. teacher and recognizes her as Phoenix's mother. Now she can never escape Phoenix and if Ms. Taylor lets it out what she has done then she will never make any friends either.
She then starts to make friends with a group of girls calling themselves the Chasing Aces society. But right as she starts to make her way into the group someone else comes along. The one girl Molly was hoping she would never have to face again: Phoenix. Then The Society starts to welcome Phoenix in and start ignoring Molly.
But while Molly is telling her side of the story someone else starts telling it too. Someone unexpected, someone not quite as popular in the group, Emma or as she would later become Skye. She has an abusive father who at every little thing that she does wrong beats her until she blacks out. She is too embarrassed to tell her friends what is going on until one day someone sees the bruises and cuts and tells a teacher, but only one, the one teacher that favors The Society and really cares about Emma, Ms. Taylor. When Yoanna Taylor finds out what has happened to Emma she becomes dead set on protecting Emma to the point where she might actually die protecting Emma. When Emma comes home five minutes late one afternoon her father gets very abusive and starts to beat her, but Emma has time to yell out the window so that Yoanna can hear. When Yoanna saves Emma and Emma has time to call the police and get her father Jonah arrested a secret is uncovered a secret that will change Emma's life forever.
This was a great book. I was very excited to read a book by a British author other then J. K. Rowling. The plot was unpredictable, I never knew what was going to happen, and that kept me interested until the very end where I was begging for more. It wasn't quite a cliff hanger but it was enough that I am dying for a sequel.

Ruth's Bio: My name is Ruth Weaver and I'm almost fifteen.  I go a girls school and my favourite subject is P.E. When I'm not running around on the hockey pitch, I'm usually writing. My first completed book is Chasing Aces but I'm certain that it won't be the last in the series; I've got plenty more lined up for my favourite characters. In my spare time I like painting and sketching.
Chasing Aces was an idea that came to me in a maths lesson about five years ago. Molly, the main character hasn't changed a bit. It took me almost three years to get my thoughts down as a story. I still have the complete first draft (before the whole book was almost completely rewritten) tucked away somewhere in my room.
I'm very grateful for the help that people have given me such as my parents, friends and a few of my teachers who were willing to help edit Chasing Aces or be first readers.

Title: Heist Society By Ally Carter

This is the second time that I have read this book. Kat is such a sweet person that sometimes I forgot that she was a thief. Being her age I can see how she would want to have a normal life. Away from what everybody expected of her.
Katrina or more commonly know as Kat has left the family business. When she was seven years old she went with her uncle to Austria to steal the crown jewels. When Kat turned fifteen she planned a con of her own- scamming her way into the best boarding school in the country to get away from the family business.
When she gets kicked out of her boarding school for placing the headmaster's mint-condition 1958 Porsche Speedster on top of the fountain in the quad, planned by her buddy Hale, who pulls her from her boarding school life, she learns that a lot has gone on since the three months that she has been away from the family. Like a powerful mobster's priceless art collection has been stolen, and he wants it returned. Now. Only a master thief could have pulled of a job like this. Her father isn't just on the list, he is the list.
Kat must do everything in her power to get those paintings back. She has two weeks to do it, a teenage crew, and, hopefully, just enough talent to pull off the biggest heist in her family's, very crooked, history. She and Hale have to work together to save her father from what ever fate may come to him if the paintings aren't returned to the powerful mobster: Arturo Taccone.  Together they must rob the safest Art Museum in the country and not get caught.
I love this book so much I could read it a million times more. Ally Carter is one of my favorite authors. The way that she describes and writes it amazes me beyond my furthest imagination. I feel like I'm right next to Kat doing everything that she does. While reading these books I get lost for hours at a time, away from reality and into the amazing world of the Ally Carter's books. I can't wait to crack open the next book in this series to see what Kat does next. This book is a MUST READ! Although I wouldn't recommend it to boys I definitely recommend it to girls. Although I wished Kat and Hale would of had a little more romance I was satisfied enough at the end of the book to smile and think: ahhh I love a good romance.

Title: Insurgent (Divergent Series) By: Veronica Roth

Summary: One choice can transform you—or it can destroy you. But every choice has consequences, and as unrest surges in the factions all around her, Tris Prior must continue trying to save those she loves—and herself—while grappling with haunting questions of grief and forgiveness, identity and loyalty, politics and love.

Tris's initiation day should have been marked by celebration and victory with her chosen faction; instead, the day ended with unspeakable horrors. War now looms as conflict between the factions and their ideologies grows. And in times of war, sides must be chosen, secrets will emerge, and choices will become even more irrevocable—and even more powerful. Transformed by her own decisions but also by haunting grief and guilt, radical new discoveries, and shifting relationships, Tris must fully embrace her Divergence, even if she does not know what she may lose by doing so.

Review: The exciting long awaited sequel to Divergent!! I was so excited to finally be able to read Insurgent! But I was slightly disappointed because it seemed like through out the whole book Tris seemed to be constantly complaining. It was annoying and I wanted it to end. Despite people trying to rescue her she seemed to hate every one. She pushed away Four and then complained when he pushed her away. But those are only disappointing things there was a lot of good parts! I really liked the out come of the whole end. Even though I wish there were more I was satisfied. This is a definite MUST READ. I was confused about the ending though, maybe it's just been a while since I last read it.
