Title: Cinder (The Lunar Chronicles) By: Marissa Meyer

Summary: Sixteen-year-old Cinder is considered a technological mistake by most of society and a burden by her stepmother. Being cyborg does have its benefits, though: Cinder's brain interface has given her an uncanny ability to fix things (robots, hovers, her own malfunctioning parts), making her the best mechanic in New Beijing. This reputation brings Prince Kai himself to her weekly market booth, needing her to repair a broken android before the annual ball. He jokingly calls it "a matter of national security" but Cinder suspects it's more serious than he's letting on.
Although Eager to impress the prince, Cinder's intentions are derailed when her younger stepsister, and only human friend, is infected with the fatal plague that's been devastating Earth for a decade. Blaming Cinder for her daughter's illness. Cinder's stepmother volunteers her body for plague research, an "honor" that no one has survived.
But it doesn't take long for the scientists to discover something unusual about their new guinea pig. Something others would kill for.
Review: I have always loved the fairytale Cinderella and all the exciting twists on the main plot through movies like: Disney's: Cinderella; Ever After with Drew Barrymore; A Cinderella Story with Hillary Duff; And Ella Enchanted  with Anne Hathaway. This story was new, with a twist no author has done before. It was exciting to read because you never knew what was next, it was hard to tell if she was actually going to go to the ball with Prince Kai or if she was going to get away in the car that she was preparing to escape in? Every chapter was more exciting than the last, each with new information pertaining to Cinder's true identity and where she came from and who her real parents were. When I first got this book in the mail I was thinking: Oh great another Cinderella story, just like the last billion or so! But when I finally cracked it open I was surprised and I couldn't get enough, and now I can't wait for it's sequel: Scarlet. An interesting twist on the story of Red Riding Hood. Expecting to come out February 2013.
